Getting Started
Four steps from install to a live offer: build it, design the page, select xPostio in your checkout settings, and place a test order.
Four steps take you from install to a live offer. Most stores finish in about 10 minutes.
Step 1: Create your offer and turn it on
- In xPostio, open Workflows and click Create workflow. It starts with the Post-purchase trigger already in place.
- Drag an Offer step onto the canvas and connect it to the trigger.
- Click Configure offer on the offer’s card to set its Discount name, discount type and value, and Max Products in Offer (default 3, or 1 on Free; up to 1 on Free, 3 on Growth and 10 on Pro). To name the offer itself, click the pencil on its card.
- Optional, on Growth and Pro: add targeting rules, a countdown timer, or a second offer on the Offer accepted or Offer declined branch. The Free plan runs one percentage offer. See Plans and billing.
- Your changes save automatically. You can also click Save changes. Then click Turn on workflow at the top of the workflow’s page.
Only one post-purchase workflow can be on at a time. If another one is on, xPostio asks you to confirm and turns the other one off.
Step 2: Design the offer page
Go to Settings → Post-purchase and open the editor. A clean default layout is already there: a banner, the product card, the accept and decline buttons, and a thank-you screen. Change the texts, reorder the blocks, and click Save. The layout applies to every offer.
Step 3: Select xPostio in your checkout settings
Shopify only shows one post-purchase app per store, and you choose which one.
- In your Shopify admin, go to Settings → Checkout. The Home page setup guide has a button that opens it.
- Scroll to Post-purchase page.
- Under Use an app to add features at checkout after payment, select xPostio.
- Click Save.
This step is not optional. Until xPostio is selected here, no customer sees an offer, however your workflow is built.
Good to know: each accepted offer is charged as a separate payment on the same order. If you capture payments manually, capture every payment on those orders.
Step 4: Place a test order
- Add products to your cart on your storefront and check out, with a shipping address.
- Pay. On a development store, turn on Shopify’s Test payment gateway in Settings → Payments, then pay with card number 1, any 3-digit CVV and any future expiry date. The test order must be over the equivalent of $1 USD.
- The offer page appears after payment, before the Thank you page.
- Try Add to my order, then check the order in your admin: the accepted items are on it.
If the page doesn’t appear, check that the order matches the offer’s rules. For example, a Cart value min $100 rule skips a $40 order on purpose. Then see Troubleshooting.
What your customer sees
- A banner. By default: “Your order is confirmed — one last thing” and “Add The Complete Snowboard at 20% off — no new payment details needed”.
- The products picked for them, with the discounted price and a quantity selector.
- A price breakdown: Subtotal and the discount, then Shopify’s own Shipping, Taxes and Total.
- Add to my order · Pay $X, and No thanks, complete my order.
- After each answer: another offer (up to three in a row), or your thank-you screen and then the Order status page.
